Invest AD launched its first private equity fund for third-party investors in 2008, and expects strong deal flow in coming years as the family-owned companies that dominate the Middle East and North Africa region reshuffle their assets.

The company’s talented team, led by Samir Assaad, has international experience in private equity, investment banking and consulting. It is focused on using Invest AD ’s long-standing relationships across the region to source attractive deals, while using strong shareholder rights to extract maximum value from portfolio investments.

Taking a long-term view, we will seek to add value to investments by focusing on improving operational efficiency and asset utlisation, and help companies scale up operations across a region where we have strong corporate and institutional links. Our strategy is to identify or recruit high calibre management teams, who are incentivized to create shareholder value and ensure high standards of corporate governance.

With a disciplined approach to due diligence and valuation, the private equity team looks at firms with solid cash flows, and in “defensive” areas that can best weather the global economic downturn. Those include healthcare, education, telecoms, consumer goods, and logistics and distribution.
